St Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School

Year 1

Welcome to Year 1 where we are continuing our exciting learning journey and building upon all that we learnt in Reception.

In Year 1 we know that ‘Jesus loves me’ and we always try to follow His example by living like Jesus wants us to live. We know it is important to always try our best by working hard and being a good friend to everyone.

Every effort is made, especially in the first term, to provide a smooth transition from Reception class. This means that we carry out our work using lots of practical activities and gradually progress to becoming more independent so that we can work through the Year 1 curriculum.

Our classroom is bright and colourful with lots of displays to support our learning. We usually have R.E., English, Maths, History and Geography in the morning and in the afternoon we usually cover Phonics, Science, P.E., I.C.T, Art, Design and Technology and Music. As you can see we work very hard.

Miss Traynor and Mrs Thompson will be working with us to help us reach our full potential and be the best that we can.

In Science we used the school garden to look for signs of autumn.

We know that we are all special and have our own talents. Together we will achieve!

We work together in maths to solve problems.

Together we agreed on our class charter. We know that we have rights.
