St Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School

Year 3

Welcome to Year 3. Our teacher this year is Miss McLeish and our teaching assistant is Mrs Haughton. Our lunch time supervisor is Mrs Kinnaird, who will support us in our guided reading sessions.

Year 3 is a very important year in our school life, as we prepare together to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The preparation for these sacraments will be a key focus, not only in our RE lessons but in all we do throughout the school year.

We will cover lots of exciting topics such as the Stone Age, Ancient Egypt and Spain. During Autumn term we will be going swimming weekly and later in the year we will have coaches for our PE lessons where we will continue to develop lots of different skills. We will also begin French lessons, starting with learning how to greet people, introduce ourselves and count.

We have decided that in order to do well in Key Stage 2 we need to be attentive, work hard and co-operate as a team. Our Year 3 classroom is where we can enjoy learning, try our best and achieve our potential.

Homework in Year 3 will include spellings, multiplication tables and a Literacy or Maths task, as well as reading our reading books daily. Together we are looking forward to a hardworking, exciting and holy year as we take the next steps in our educational journey.
