Year 2
Welcome to Year 2, where we are continuing our exciting learning journey at St. Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School. We are very excited to be the oldest children in Key Stage 1 now, and we take our responsibility of being role models to the younger children very seriously.
Our classroom is upstairs and we have our own cloakroom and toilets. We have a bright, sunny classroom with lots of displays which are full of prompts which help us to do brilliantly with our work and achieve our very best. We take great pride in our learning environment and we work hard as a team to keep it tidy and organised. We are excited to have our very own, named writing equipment this year which we will have the responsibility of looking after in our own desks. We take keeping ourselves and our classroom clean and safe very seriously in Year 2.
Our class altar is a main focus in our classroom and we change it throughout the year to celebrate Feast days and special times in the Church’s year. Jesus is very much a presence in our classroom and we always try to follow His example. We take our school values and virtues very seriously and we try to live out these values in all that we do, both inside and outside the classroom.
We usually have Collective Worship, Literacy, Maths and Reading practice in the morning and enjoy RE, History, Geography, RSE, Science, Art, Design and Technology, Computing, PE and Music in the afternoon.
We are becoming very independent and resilient learners and we love a challenge! We especially love working in our Maths No Problem books and moving onto the mastery questions that our teachers set to challenge and stretch us. We are developing excellent problem solving and reasoning skills!
Our Curriculum Overview will provide more detailed information on topics and activities planned throughout the year.
